JS_TRUSTFALL
Eeep. I’m super late on this one. It turns out moving out of the country takes too a lot of effort. Who knew. None the less this gem from one of my current favs Jensen showed up in my inbox about a month ago, and its been on repeat. Its a gloomy day in london so I thought I’d share something Synthy and amazing. Enjoy. C Madi Diaz – Trust Fall (Down We Go Remix by Jensen Sportag) by Jensen Sportag...
Bonobo | Eyesdown (Machinedrum Remix)
team-bonobo1
Bonobo’s Black Sands is still one of my favorite albums released in 2010.  2010 was the year I became a huge Bonobo fan and  I also came to appreciate his talent for pairing up perfect songstresses for his albums (Andreya Triana for Black Sands and Bajka for Days to Come).  Come to find out Machinedrum is remixing Black Sands in its entirety and releasing it this February.  We get a sneak peak into the album with a remixed Eyesdown.  Eyesdown is one of my favorite tracks off of Black Sands and Machinedrum does a nice job of sprinkling crack all over this track. ...
Lianne La Havas | Forget (Shlohmo Remix)
lianne-la-havas
I’m finding that a lot of the music people are raving about and a lot of music that is grabbing people’s attention is simple beautiful music.  Lianne La Havas is one of those shining stars that does not focus on bringing something cutting edge or new to the music game.  She is just simply talented and her music pulls you in.  Sometimes we get distracted with what people are doing or how different it is from the norm.  I’m glad to see that we havn’t forgotten the simply talented.  I feel like 2012 is going to be the year of...
The Kid Daytona | New Yorker’s Ambition (Feat. Aloe Blacc)
kiddaytona
This video and song caught my eye as I was rolling threw the interwebs.  The Kid Daytona released an EP called The Interlude with clothing company LRG in 2010 and then released  The Interlude 2 last December.  While searching all things The Kid, I couldn’t help to find that everything associated to his name is also linked to LRG.  The Kid Dayton became the face of LRG and looks like they were inseparable in 2010.  Now the LRG stamp isn’t boldly planted on the second round of mixes.  New Yorker’s Ambition may have gotten my attention because of the choice of sample, but The...
Georgia Anne Muldrow & Madlib | Seeds
georgiaannemuldrow
So come to find out there is another Stones Throw collab happening in the world.  Madlib is teaming up with soulful songstress Georgia Anne Muldrow to birth a funky album called Seeds, which is will be released this March.  The first single, Seeds is funkalicious, and the album is coming out on Muldrow’s label SomeOthaShip.  A couple facts (via Pitchfork), this is the first time Muldrow is using a producer outside of Dudley Perkins and this is the first for Madlib in producing a full album for a female vocalist.  Madlib has a talent for dusting off and reworking classics,...
Eric Lau | Yesterday (Ft. Guilty Simpson, Fatima, & Oliver Daysoul)
PRESS_1
So this tasty treat is brought to by Eric Lau.  I’m just finding out that Eric is doing an EP called The Mission with Stones Throw’s own Guilty Simpson, what?  Yes!  We are a big fan of both talents and I have a feeling this is gonna be a blow out album.  Yesterday is more on the mellow, laid back side, and I’m hoping that The Mission is filled with tons of head bands.  I’m kind of sad we don’t get to hear much of Fatima’s talents on this track. The Mission will be released next month.   Yesterday (feat. Guilty Simpson, Fatima &...
Robert Glasper & King | Move Love
Robert_Glasper_Top
I woke up this morning to another lovely track from Robert Glasper featuring the super talented group King.  King is a trio of ladies from LA killing it, creating lots of buzz with their soulful EP Story.  This track is a perfect combo of talent.  So if the two tracks from Black Radio hasn’t convinced you this album is going to be fire, I don’t know what will.  You can download this track from Robert Glaspers page for the price of free.    Robert Glasper Experiment – Move Love Ft. King by Moovmnt...
Robert Glasper & Erkyah Badu | Afro Blue
RobertGlasper4abyJoeyL-576x378
The world is buzzing about Robert Glasper’s new project Black Radio which is due to be released this February.  Glasper is promising to transcend any notion of genre on this upcoming album.  He’s delving into all sights and sounds of music and I’m really looking forward to hearing his fusion of music.  Afro Blue is a track off the upcoming album, in which Glasper and Badu create beautiful magic together.  I’m kicking myself for having missed seeing Glasper perform live at Blues Alley, but there is always next time. Zammuto | Idiom Wind EP
TRI_H_Zammuto_LG
Zammuto’s track Idiom Wind really caught my attention, the rhythmic violin drew me into the song and Nick Zammuto’s voice kept my interested, reminding me of Paul Simon.  The song has almost a jazz improv path, while different instruments take their turn at jumping into the dreamy song.  Nick Zammuto is half of  The Books, a band out New York, and after creating a highly successfully album as The Books, he decided to create a new four piece band, aptly called Zammuto.  While I havn’t heard much from The Books, Zammuto’s talents by himself have definitely caught my attention.  Zammuto released his debut EP Idiom Wind in December and he’s also worked...
Full Crate Feat. David Simmons | Without My Heart
full-crate-in-kcrw-music-library
I wasn’t a big fan of Full Crate’s fall release Golden Glasses (but I am feeling the Cherrie Hats single).  It just wasn’t doing anything special for me.  So I was hoping that when Full Crate released a single that he would once again satisfy.  Full Crate and Mar’s Conversation With Her created a huge buzz and satisfied by yearning for deep and soulful music.  Full Crate’s newest single, Without My Heart is warm and cozy, and goes along perfect with my big mug of tea. Full Crate ft. David Simmons – Without My Heart (Okayplayer Exclusive) by FullCrate...
Blu & Exile | give me my flowers while i can still smell them
blue_exile
My favorite combination besides peanut butter & jelly is Exile and Blu.  I don’t think anyone will stop talking about their massive release Below the Heavens.   I think BTH struck a cord with a lot of music lovers, and gave hope to the hopeless, who thought music was uninspiring at that point in time.  Blu and Exile recorded give me my flowers while i can still smell them in 09, while Exile is still hitting hard with his masterful mixes and Blu kills it with his lyrics, I have already heard a lot of people complaining about it not being mixed or mastered enough to...
The Seshen

The Seshen has all the pieces to the puzzle.  Each and every band member creates a musical masterpiece combining their art together.  Wow, the first time I heard Oblivian, Pieces, and Canvas, they blew me out of the water.  I can hear the artists (they claim the influences of Little Dragon, J. Dilla, Erykah Badu and Beach House) that have influenced this band out of the bay, but most importantly the music that influenced them doesn’t overpower them shining threw with lots of individuality and creativity.  It’s refreshing to hear a band with a unique, fun and talent-filled sound.  They definitely dip into all...
