I haven’t discovered as many amazing under the radar bands as I had hoped while living in London. TO my surpise my favorite put on has been 2morrow’s Victory which is comprised greg ( chitown ) and raf ( south london). It amazes me how far I have to go to find out about things from home. Anyways Greg and Raf have a mellow sound thats missing from the market place right now. The released a new EP last week, and this dope video for their first single Rancid Dreamstate. Enjoy. C...
Y’all know the drill. Its September and we need to sweat out the summer before the the impending doom of winter comes around. Underdog is gonna take us to the mother land and Allison will be painting face per usual. We also have a special guest DJ appearance by DJ Cool Drew who will bring along all the South African vibes. Sahel will be performing live downstairs. 5 at the door. Thursday September 27, 2012 Doors 9:30 Bossa Lounge Washington, DC...
We love anything Jesse Boykins III puts his voice to over here at Lunchbox. The unofficial producer of The Weeknd’s House of Balloons, Jeremy Rose is releasing his own project under the name Zodiac. The project is set to be released late September and we get a taste of that project with his release of Come, a sexy track with the enchanting vocals of Jesse Boykins III....
Canadian-born South African singer/songwriter Zaki Ibrahim has got her debut release Every Opposite spinning in my ears. While her first single from the album, Heart Beat, was released over a year ago and my personal favorite, Something in the Water was released last December, this album was definitly worth the wait. While house and electronic music have been taking over South Africa, Zaki brings a healthy dose of electro beats, with production done by Tiago Correia-Paulo, all the while her vocal skills consistently shine threw. Zaki introduces us to her album with the release of The Do which comes with visuals that gave me heavy hints of Black Swan....
The XX has been collaborating with other artist and doing a little production work for some well established artist. I’m happy to see they are releasing an album this coming September! Their single Chains has the classic XX sound, laid back vocals, light guitar riffs. Their voices melt and mesh together so well. I’m looking forward to listening to the whole album....
What do you get when you mash up two lovely ladies known for their electro sound and beats… Analogue Monsta! East coast meets west coast when TOKiMONSTA and Suzi Analogue combined their talents to create BOOM. A little boom-bap and lots of repetitive electro beats, Suzi and Toki make addictive music together. I rarely see two independent female artists getting together to create an album, hopefully these two ladies will encourage others to do the same....
Do you somewhat remeber Below the Heavens?! Blu and Exile exploded onto the scene with the powerful album. And now Blu & Exile are at it again! Matching perfectly like a puzzle, these two are coming together to release another highly anticipated album Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them. As we wait patiently (or impatiently in my case) for the full album to drop, Fat Beats has released an EP of Maybe One Day with Black Spade laying vocals over the track....
I got a pair of Beats for my birthday, and imediatly went on a new music quest last. Punchdouble over at Movmnt suggest I check out AB. I was kinda blown away. Its so rare that I hear something I rock with on the first Listen. AB the Confidant just released this buttery EP for free download and the whole joint could have me pregnant by the end of the year. The main single is a cover of “Kissing You” which he def does justice. Check it out live below and download the tape if you have space on your...
With new visuals to a single off of their summer demo, Drop Electric has added a little something special to their sound. Their music has been emotional and engaging from the start, but now with Kristina Reznikov, one of their many guitarist, laying down vocals to their new tracks, you definitely cannot ignore the mesmerizing sound of Drop Electric. Drop Electric has a way of engaging the listener even more with dramatic and personal videos of everyday people. Their new video for Empire Trashed has you running around the streets of New York, creating a connection with different artist in a hustle and...
